“I believe we all have an inner desire to express ourselves creatively. I do it with watercolors (mostly.)”
I started painting in earnest in the 90s. Soon after taking my first art classes I found my true passion: watercolor. From then on I have had the opportunity to paint with many fine artists in workshop setting in wonderful locations here in Colorado and California and I always come away with renewed inspiration and techniques to add to my repertoire.
I am fortunate to have a studio behind my home in Montrose, CO and it is here I offer workshops in ‘watercolor basics” and several ongoing classes. Some of my favorite surfaces to paint on are Winsor Newton CP 140, rice paper, clay board, gessoed paper, watercolor canvas, Bristol board and of course my all-tie favorite: YUPO. In fact I was a winner of the 2007 Yupo Corporation’s Designer’s Choice Award. Although my focus is in watercolors I also enjoy working in oils and have received recognition in several shows.
I’m very involved with Around the Corner Art Gallery here in Montrose. We feature only local artists and show a wide variety of paintings, sculpture, pottery, jewelry and much more.
I’m proud to share my first children’s book, “How Much, Woodchuck?”: A book of ponderings & opposites, which I wrote, illustrated, and published under my pen name, Linda Louise Ashley.
Several of my painting are on permanent display in the private collections of Alpine Bank, Montrose, CO and Alpine Bank, Durango, CO.
When I’m not painting you’ll find me with my kids and 8 grandkids or just hanging out with my dogs.
Many of the original paintings you find within are available for sale.
